  •   Echeveria 'Rob Roy' is a purple rosette succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Mexico where it grows in rocky, well-draining soils. It is drought-tolerant and suitable for indoor and outdoor gardens alike.

The plant forms compact geometric rosettes with thick, spoon-shaped leaves in purple and burgundy tones. A powdery coating called farina covers the fleshy leaves, giving 'Rob Roy' a frosted appearance. It grows tight and architectural, staying manageable in size without spreading widely.

During spring and summer, it produces bell-shaped flowers in coral, pink, or orange that rise above the purple foliage on tall stalks. Cooler nighttime temperatures encourage better flowering. It is completely safe around cats and dogs.

'Rob Roy' tolerates dry indoor air and can survive up to ten days without water. You can move it outside for summer enjoyment, though it needs protection from rain. It stays compact and requires minimal fertilizer, so it works well on desktops or shelves where space is limited.

  •   Echeveria 'Rob Roy' grows well in bright indirect light or direct sun but scorches in south-facing windows.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings every 1-2 weeks.

'Rob Roy' does best in well-draining cactus and succulent soil mix with added perlite or pumice.

It prefers temperatures between 65-75°F and is not frost tolerant below 32°F.

'Rob Roy' is a slow-growing succulent that needs minimal fertilizer, just diluted cactus fertilizer monthly during spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and cannot tolerate frost below 32°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, southern Georgia, coastal South Carolina, southern Nevada, coastal Oregon, southern Alabama, southern Mississippi, and parts of North Carolina. Gardeners in these warm climates can place it outside with proper drainage and protection from excessive rainfall.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Rob Roy'?
A: During the growing season, allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Winter watering can be reduced to once monthly, since the plant enters dormancy and requires less moisture.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Echeveria 'Rob Roy' is completely non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: What window placement works best for 'Rob Roy'?
A: An east or west window provides optimal light while avoiding the intense heat of south-facing glass. Rotate the plant regularly for even color development on all sides.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: 'Rob Roy' is slow-growing and maintains its compact rosette form, so it rarely needs repotting and stays manageable for indoor spaces.

Q: Can 'Rob Roy' be propagated?
A: Yes, it propagates easily from leaf cuttings or offsets that develop around the base. Allow cut surfaces to callus for 2-3 days before planting in dry soil.

Q: What happens if the plant gets too much direct sun?
A: South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, turning them pale or translucent. East or west light brings out deeper purple tones without damage.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
