  •   Echeveria 'Serrana' is a rare collector succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to Mexico's semi-arid highlands where it evolved in rocky, well-drained terrain. It has become a sought-after find for enthusiasts drawn to uncommon plants with serious visual presence.

'Serrana' forms tight, symmetrical rosettes with thick, fleshy leaves that deepen into dusky tones and wear a powdery, frosted farina coating on the surface. The clustering growth habit means a single plant gradually multiplies into a layered display, with each rosette holding its compact, geometric shape.

'Serrana' requires a nighttime temperature drop to trigger blooming, a natural cue that mimics its mountain origin. Keeping it near a window where evenings run cooler in late winter or early spring gives this farina succulent its best chance to produce flower stalks.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to intensify its color and growth, covering it from rain to protect the farina-dusted leaves. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Echeveria 'Serrana' grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, ideally near a south or east-facing window, though watch for leaf scorch in intense south window heat.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, reducing to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter, always letting soil dry completely between waterings.

'Serrana' performs best in a fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with coarse perlite or pumice at roughly a 50/50 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 65–80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

'Serrana' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from diluted balanced fertilizer once monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before frost damage becomes a risk. It grows outdoors year-round across California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi. It also grows well in the mildest microclimates of coastal Oregon and Washington, while growers in all other states can enjoy it as a container plant brought indoors before the first frost.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Serrana'?
A: Every 10 to 14 days in warm months and once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter. The soil should dry completely between waterings.

Q: Is it safe around pets?
A: Echeveria 'Serrana' is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does 'Serrana' need?
A: Bright indirect light to partial or full sun works well. Rotate it regularly so all sides receive even light and maintain the rosette's symmetry.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: 'Serrana' propagates easily from offsets that form around the base of the mother rosette. Simply detach a well-rooted offset and pot it up in fresh, well-draining succulent mix.

Q: Can 'Serrana' go outside in summer?
A: Move it to a bright, sheltered spot outdoors, but cover it from rain to prevent damage to the farina coating and rot.

    Q: Why is availability limited?
A: 'Serrana' is not widely produced commercially, making it a collector succulent with restricted availability. Its dark rosette form and farina finish drive demand among enthusiasts.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
