  •   Gasteria Fuji Yuki, also called Snow on Fuji, is a rare variegated succulent cultivar with heavy white leaf markings. The Gasteria genus originates from South Africa, but this cultivar was developed through specialized horticultural selection, likely in Japan, to stabilize and enhance its white variegation.

It grows in a compact rosette of thick, lance-shaped leaves that resemble a snow-capped mountain. The high-contrast white stripes and margins often cover large sections of each leaf, far exceeding the standard bicolor patterns found in other Gasteria varieties. The foliage is dense and upright, creating a sculptural form that remains relatively small.

Dainty, stomach-shaped flowers hang like bells from a tall, slender raceme in shades of pinkish-orange and green. Because this cultivar grows slowly, flowering indicates a thriving plant. Blooms appear when the plant reaches maturity.

Gasteria Fuji Yuki works well as a tabletop specimen or shelf display where its white variegation can be appreciated up close. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it safe for households with pets. Its slow growth habit and compact size suit long-term collectors who value plants that develop character over years.

  •   Gasteria Fuji Yuki prefers bright, indirect light and is more sensitive to sunburn than green varieties due to its high white content. Keep it away from harsh, direct midday sun.

Water it only when the soil is bone-dry to the touch. In winter, it enters semi-dormancy and requires very little water.

Gasteria Fuji Yuki grows best in a gritty, porous succulent mix with a 50/50 ratio of potting soil to inorganic material like pumice or bonsai jack.

It prefers temperatures above 50°F and is not frost-tolerant. Bring it indoors if temperatures drop below 50°F.

Gasteria Fuji Yuki grows slowly and requires minimal feeding. A light application of balanced succulent fertilizer once in spring is sufficient.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11 and must be grown indoors or brought inside during winter in colder regions. It grows year-round outdoors in southern California, Arizona, southern Texas, and Hawaii, where temperatures remain above freezing.
  • Q: What light conditions does Gasteria Fuji Yuki need?
A: Bright, indirect light is best. The white variegation lacks chlorophyll and burns in harsh direct sun, especially during midday hours.

Q: Is this plant safe for homes with pets?
A: Gasteria Fuji Yuki is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How often should I water Gasteria Fuji Yuki?
A: Only when the soil is completely bone-dry, which typically means every 2-3 weeks during the growing season. Water far less frequently in winter.

Q: Does it need special humidity?
A: Gasteria Fuji Yuki prefers dry air and actually benefits from low humidity, which helps prevent rot.

Q: How fast does Gasteria Fuji Yuki grow?
A: It grows quite slowly, taking several years to reach maturity. This slow pace makes it valuable for long-term collectors.

    Q: Can I propagate it?
A: Leaf cuttings root readily in dry succulent soil, though Gasteria Fuji Yuki's slow growth means new plants develop over time rather than quickly.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
